Kristina Bishop, EdD, MBA

Dr. Bishop is the Academic Director and one of the founders of the College of Exploration (
http://www.coexploration.org) a 501 c-3 not-for-profit organization based in Potomac Falls, Virginia, USA. She has a Doctoral Degree (Ed.D.)in Higher Education and an MBA from Virginia Tech, as well as an M.A. in Education Measurement and Statistics from University of Maryland. For 30 years, she has supported the development and implementation of interactive online learning programs for educators and scientists. She has also supported online strategic planning for non-profit organizations.
For over 30 years she also ran her own business Beta Resources, Inc. doing business as webconferences.com, which offered computer training, online course delivery and web broadcasting.
She has extensive experience in research and evaluation of informal and formal science education programs, including National Science Foundation (NSF)’s AISL project
, In Search of Earth’s Secrets, NSF Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence COSEE-Coastal Trends program, NOAA EPP Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center, online and face to face teacher professional development workshops, instructional materials for National Geographic, NOAA, and PBS, and academic competitions, such as the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, QuikSCience, and ThinkQuest. As one of the COSEE evaluators she participated in the COSEE Network Evaluation working group.
The College of Exploration was instrumental in the development of the Ocean Literacy Essential Principles and Fundamental Concepts, and she has supported this initiative since its inception. She also worked on the EU-funded Horizon 2020 project entitled
Sea Change, promoting ocean literacy in Europe.
