After an MBA from Harvard, Shann became a serial entrepreneur, co-founding two public mutual funds, three publicly traded firms, and other businesses that included a private equity business that acquired control and restructured 14 publicly traded firms. He initiated in 1971 and became a founding co-author in 1975 of the world's first educational qualification for company directors. In 1977, he was commissioned by the Australian government to undertake the first economic analysis of Aboriginal Communities. In 1978, he was an adviser to the Premier of the NSW government. A summary of his first book by the United Nations led to his being invited to advise on stakeholder privatisation in Prague and Beijing in 1990/1991. World Citizen Gary Davis appointed Shann in 1997 as his coordinator for the World Economic Commission. Shann’s Phd thesis in 2000 introduced bytes as the unit of analysis to establish the science of governance and self-governance based on biomimicry. He co-presented the first education course in the world for governance architects. Shann has been a prolific author on reforming the theories and practices of capitalism to distribute its ownership and control radically.
